8 Foods to Avoid Feeding Your Cat
It’s no secret that the way to a cat’s heart is through their stomach, so it’s natural you want to strengthen your bond by treating them to something special. While it’s tempting to share the love, there are some ‘treats’ that you might not know are harmful, and some may even surprise you.
1- Chocolate
While most of us can’t get enough of chocolate, even a small amount can be toxic to cats. If you want to spoil your favourite feline, consider a treat.
2- Milk
It’s a myth that cats need to be fed milk. In fact, most adult cats are lactose intolerant. Quench their thirst with fresh water and a little wet food instead.
3- Fresh tuna

4- Bones
While we may be tempted to treat our felines with a bone, avoid feeding bones of any sort - both raw and cooked. Cooked bones may be hazardous as they can splinter so it is best to avoid giving them to your cat.
5- Onions and garlic
Another on the watch-out list is all that sits in the onion family. Onions, spring onions, garlic or leek for example, can cause anaemia in cats. So take care feeding leftovers and spicy food.
6- Avocados
This innocent brunch-time favourite is on the no-go list for our feline friends. Avocados contains a fatty acid that’s dangerous for cats, so keep them firmly out of reach.
7- Sultanas, raisins and grapes
While we may love the sweetness of sultanas, raisins, currants and grapes, these are known to cause serious kidney problems for cats. We recommend avoiding these in both loose form and in fruit cakes.
8- Alcohol
