Other names: Juggle
Origin
The Jug is a hybrid of a pug and a jack russell terrier. They are bred to retain the basic features of a pug with a slightly longer nose in an attempt to reduce the breathing problems that pugs are notorious for. They have become increasingly popular over the last 10 years. The aim of crossbreeding is to minimise the genetic diseases that can be present in purebred dogs. First-cross jugs will have the maximum genetic benefits associated with a hybrid dog – in other words, a jug with one parent purebred pug and one parent purebred jack russell terrier will have less genetic dieases than second or third cross jugs.

Feeding & Ownership
It is best to feed the jug dry food as this breed is prone to tartar build up on their teeth. Those with shorter snouts do not tolerate hot weather well, so make sure you keep them calm and avoid exercising them when it’s very warm.

Other Expenses |
If a jug has breathing difficulty or snores excessively, they may require prophylactic surgery to correct abnormalities with their nose and upper airways – this will lead to a significant increase in veterinary bills. |
Personality
The jug is a friendly, affectionate and fearless dog. Some jugs inherit the jack russell’s characteristic hunting instinct. Their outgoing and energetic natures make them a wonderful family companion. They can be quite vocal and prone to separation anxiety, so early socialisation and training is a must.
