The Field Spaniel originated from England in the 1800’s. This breed is still rare due to the great popularity of the Cocker Spaniels.
Description
The Field Spaniel is a moderately-sized spaniel. They have water resistant coat that is generally a solid colour, however some come in a roan (speckled) coat. They have feathered legs; chest, ears, tail and undersides. Its nose is large, with very open nostrils and the almond-shaped eyes are either hazel or chestnut brown. They have a strong muscular neck and broad, long fringed ears.

Personality
The Field Spaniel is a very sweet and affectionate dog, with lots of energy to burn. They makes an excellent family member as long as they are given regular exercise and mental stimulation, if a Field Spaniel becomes bored they have a tendency to roam. They are great with other dogs, animals and are good with children. If a Field Spaniel becomes bored and is not well socialised they can become a bit stubborn and temperamental. Field Spaniels are a very active dog and require lots of exercise, their coat also requires regular maintenance they should be brushed twice a week and any straggling hair should be scissored. Their ears should be kept clean

Grooming
Their coat also requires regular maintenance they should be brushed twice a week and any straggling hair should be scissored, they should be bathe once every two weeks in the warmer months and bathe once a month in the colder months. Their ears should be kept clean as they are prone to ear mites and ear infections.
