Cleaning Your Cat's Litter Box

Cats like to be clean. In fact, they can be fastidious about it, so keeping your cat’s litter box as clean as possible is a good way to avoid problems.

Removal: Scoop waste and refill the box every day or as often as possible to keep your cat happy and continuing to use their litter box.

Weekly Clean: Litter should be totally replaced every 1-2 weeks. This is a good time to clean and wipe down the interior of the box as well.

Detergent: Clean as they are, cats might not like the smell of cleaning products. Plain old soap and water will do the trick without ticking them off. Oh, and don’t forget to wear rubber gloves.

Litter: Look for a litter with long-lasting odor control.
