Quality & Standards

At Purina Australia, we believe high-quality pet nutrition starts with understanding nutrients, not just ingredients. Helping your pet live his best life means we formulate our pet food based on a smart blend of nutrients that supports your pet’s overall health.

We craft a large portion of our pet products right here in the Blayney NSW Australia. We know exactly what goes into every batch. Who made it. When it was made and where it was going.

We provide nutrition for over 1 million* pet households every year, so quality is our top priority. (*Source: Nielsen Homescan MAT 16/06/2018).

All Purina products made outside of Blayney are either imported from our global Purina factory teams in the USA or France, or in a Nestle contracted facility.

QUALITY SOURCING MAKES QUALITY FOOD

Quality ingredients start at the source. Some pet food brands are content with buying straight off the shelf from their suppliers, but we demand more.

That’s why we trace every single ingredient that passes through our doors to its original batch. Our experts evaluate every detail of our ingredients origin—from weather patterns to air quality to livestock management practices.

Standards

The Australian Standard for Manufacture and Marketing of Pet Food AS5812 was first launched in 2011 after intense consultation with State and Federal Government, AVA, RSPCA and industry representatives. It covers good manufacturing practices, labelling and nutrition requirements. A member can have their facility certified against the standard by having it audited by a third party JASANZ accredited auditor. Nestle Purina was the first company to be audited and certified against the standard after its launch in 2011. The audits are performed annually. Our facilities are also accredited to GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards such as ISO 220000 Food Safety Systems or equivalent.
